Dr. Marnie Burgoyne joined Buena Vet as an associate veterinarian in May 2017. Dr. Burgoyne has been working in the veterinary field for over 10 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Environmental Studies with honors (Magna Cum Laude) from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. Following completion of veterinary school, Dr. Burgoyne completed a small animal rotating internship at the VCA Animal Referral and Emergency Center of Arizona in Mesa, AZ. Dr. Burgoyne took a position as an associate veterinarian at Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital in July 2014 where she worked for nearly 3 years as a general practice and emergency clinician. While in Bakersfield, she also worked as a shelter spay and neuter surgeon for the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center.
Dr. Burgoyne is married to Dr. Jonathan Dickson, who is also a veterinarian at Buena Vet. They have a daughter and two dogs: a deaf Australian cattle dog named Gibson and a 3-legged rat terrier mix named Tippy. Outside of work, Dr. Burgoyne enjoys exercising, learning new woodwind instruments, drawing, medical and science illustration, and last but not least, taking care of her new baby.
